DatabaseEngine and Client Engine Deployment

The following dynamic linked libraries (DLLs) must be installed on a client computer when an Xbase++ application uses the Advantage Database Server. These DLLs should be installed in the applications directory. This way different versions can be installed on the same computer without any side effect. Alaska Software does not recommend installation of the Advantage Client or ADS DatabaseEngine DLLs in the Windows System directory. The following is a complete list of re-distributable DLLs:

DLLs of the Advantage Database Client Engine

DLLs of the Alaska ADS DatabaseEngine

ADSUTIL.DLL 
ADSDBE.DLL

The ADS DatabaseEngine from Alaska Software is designed to work properly with version 2.1, 2.7, 6.0, 6.2, 7.0 and 7.1 Advantage Database Clients from Extended Systems. This is archieved by dynamic resolution of exposed ACE32 client APIs used by the ADS DatabaseEngine. Therefore the ADS DatabaseEngine is able to work with all available ACE32 Client Engines DLL automatically.
