Database Engines:odbc

Technical Reference Professional

The ODBCDBE has been developed to encapsulate the ODBC 3.0 programming interface and to integrate the ODBC standard transparently into the Xbase++ programming language. Using the ODBCDBE, a database developer can build database applications accessing heterogeneous data sources. Data managed by DBMSs of different vendors become accessible within one application program if the DBMSs are ODBC compliant. An application programmer is no longer restricted to the Xbase DBF file format for data storage, but can take advantage of an SQL DBMS, for example, and manipulate SQL databases using native Xbase++ functions and commands.
